‘The Bachelor’ spotlight: Will Shushanna Mkrtychyan find love with Ben Higgins?

There are only two contestants left on “The Bachelor” this year for us to spotlight, and we’re certainly saving some of the most interesting ones for last! Today, we’re looking at a woman in Shushanna Mkrtychyan who is going to have a very interesting strategy in trying to woo Ben Higgins in the show’s first episode. We’re not spoiling it here, but we feel like it’ll stand out to you in a big way.

As for whether or not she has a real shot at being with Ben, that just depends on if she has the time to explain to him everything we get from her bio.

Age – 27. It’s so strange to say that she is one of the older contestants on this season at that age.

Occupation – Mathematician. There are so many things that she can do with that job that we have no idea what she actually does.

Location – Salt Lake City, Utah. She comes from a Eastern European background (her name, per a reader, is Armenian), so this may influence her personality just as much as being from Utah.

Things to know – She is in touch with her culture, she has had a lengthy relationship of five years before, and we find her answer to what she wants to get out of this show to be very refreshing: “At some point I stopped believing in love again. I thought something was wrong with me or I’m just so busy that I don’t want anyone in my life. Maybe this get away will help to open my eyes and meet someone special. And even if it doesn’t happen on the show, I believe this show will help me with my hopes and loss.” Very honest. It’s too bad Ben doesn’t get a chance to read these before the season.

Strengths – She’s clearly willing to be vulnerable, she has probably more experience in relationships than the majority of the other women this season, and she has an interesting background that should help her to stand out from the crowd. These are all things valuable in making it past the first night.

Problem areas – We could see her being more low-key than some of the other women. Since she doesn’t seem as obsessed with the fame side of it as others, maybe she won’t be as aggressive. Depending on what Ben is looking for, we could see her over time getting the reputation of being “closed off,” even if that is not what she is trying to do.

Prediction – We can’t imagine Shushanna being sent home the first night. She’s more likely to be one of those people eliminated around the midway point, and probably will get less airtime than we would like.
