January 7 marks the return of “The Blacklist” to NBC, and if the new sneak peek below is any indication, you have quite a bit to look forward to!
In this peek, we basically get a sense of what sort of stakes are coming up for Liz Keen as she awaits trial. You obviously have Ressler and the FBI taking one particular stance on handling the situation (bringing her to a closed trial), and then you have the stance of the Director and the Cabal. These two forces are going to come to a head both in this episode (entitled, fittingly, “The Director”) and also the one that follows on January 14 (titled “The Director: Conclusion”). These two hours could reset almost the entire show depending on what goes down, and if Red / Tom / Liz herself figures out a way to change her fate.
Even with this preview, there are still so many mysteries as to how all of this will be tied up, but we’re entering the next part of the season with a lot of faith that the folks over at NBC are going to figure out a way to make this right. They’ve earned some of our trust by routinely delivering twists and turns this season, as well as given some of the actors their meatiest material yet. It’s been in particular a great year for James Spader, and we don’t even see him in this preview at all! Hopefully, this is not a sign that Red will be on the sidelines … we highly doubt that would ever be the case.
Stay tuned, as we plan on having further news all about this episode in due time!
