‘Teen Wolf’ season 5, episode 11 sneak peek will kick off 2016 for MTV
Clearly, MTV wants to kick off the New Year in a way that pleases many of their diehard fans … and also a way that is a pretty stark departure from what they have done so many other times in the past.
Late this past week, it was reported per Variety that the network is moving away from having any sort of live / pre-recorded special leading up to midnight on New Year’s Eve, and is instead opting for a marathon of their clip show “Ridiculousness” (otherwise known as that show they have marathoned more times than we can possibly count). This will lead into the first six minutes of the “Teen Wolf” season 5B premiere airing at around the arrival of 2016.
It’s a great chance for “Teen Wolf” fans to catch a little bit of the action early, and following that, this is also a great chance for MTV to see if they can capitalize on things that they already have in the can as opposed to putting out new content. We cannot blame them for the move, given that New Year’s Eve is becoming an increasingly difficult night to program for a wide array of different reasons. For one, you have to deal with the fact that so many young people are out having a good time within the core demographic; beyond that, there are also so many other networks out there that can attract bigger stars to their own New Year’s Eve shows.
We’ll hopefully have some more news on “Teen Wolf” before New Year’s Eve rolls around; if that doesn’t happen, but sure to come back to this space for some further news then!
