Steve Harvey jokes about Miss Universe 2015 flub with ‘Merry Easter’ tweet

There are a few stages of grief that any TV personality goes through after making a catastrophic flub in front of millions of viewers. First, it is embarrassment. After that, remorse. In following all of this in the end, he’s found a way to come up with a little bit of humor.

In a new post on his Twitter account on Christmas Day, Harvey proclaimed “Merry Easter, y’all” while posting a photo of himself smoking a cigar. In the end, Harvey probable realizes that there is nothing else that he can do other than laugh at himself after declaring Miss Colombia the winner of Miss Universe by mistake. Miss Philippines won the crown, and almost everyone has issued as many good tidings and well-wishes as possible. After all, this is the holiday season, no?

It has already been made clear that WME-IMG, who are the owners of the Miss Universe Organization now, are interested in bringing Harvey back to host, and we have a hard time imagining that he would say anything other than “yes” to the offer. This is one of the most high-profile gigs that he has had in years, and it could bring more attention to his primetime gigs on both “Family Feud” and also his daytime talk show.

As for the pageant, we feel like they have to be confident this is a one-time mistake … but even still, it is certainly possible that more viewers will watch next year thinking it is possible that we could see the same sort of flub all over again. The pageant’s still over 11 months away now, so there is going to be plenty of time for all decisions to be made.
