‘Doctor Who’ season 9 Christmas Special video: Twelve Meets River Song!

In just under one day’s time, the Christmas Special for “Doctor Who” will have arrived! That means that the time for waiting is over, and the time for River is here!

In the sneak peek video below from Friday’s key episode, you can see what is the first meeting on the show between Peter Capaldi and Alex Kingston, and it’s fair to say that she does not respond particularly well to the “River” name. As a matter of fact, she comes with a rather interesting threat involving removing the Doctor’s organs … which he responds to in the most hilarious way possible.

It doesn’t seem like she recognizes who the Doctor is at the moment, but we figure that this is something that she is going to be figuring out in one way or another by the time this episode wraps up. Given their history, it only makes sense that the two share some rather nice moments. Also, we hope that this episode sets the stage for what some of the future adventures could be for Capaldi as the Doctor. He’s got at least one more season to go beyond this one, and we’ll just have to imagine in our head what some of these could end up being. We’ll have more on season 10 a little bit later in the day, but filming for now is not scheduled to take place until the spring.

If anything else, you should be excited for the Christmas Special just for the promise of great humor and entertainment that it seems to be bringing to the table.
