‘American Idol’ season 15 video: See Hollywood Week contestants sing ‘Joy to the World’

Given that today is Christmas Eve, it only makes a little bit of sense to start getting into a little bit of a festive mood courtesy of a wide array of talented “American Idol” singers.

As a special treat to YouTube subscribers before the show’s  January 6 premiere, you can see below many of the show’s Hollywood Week performers take on the holiday classic “Joy to the World.” We don’t presume that the contestants had much time at all to prepare this song. As a matter of fact, they probably filmed it right in the middle of segments during this critical part in the competition earlier this fall.

Sure, if you really are desperate to figure out who has made it to this point in the competition, you can probably look closely and recognize a few faces in here. Granted, we don’t think Fox really cares all that much about it. If they did, what would the point be of releasing this? It’s still so early that seeing this video is not going to give anything away in regards to who makes it to the live shows.

The new (and final) season of the show is going to air starting on Wednesday, January 6, and it will run until April. Could that change if the ratings are enormous? We suppose it’s possible, but we’re not really counting on that. Let’s just enjoy this season for what it is, and hope that we do get an opportunity to meet some super-cool singers in the process.
