‘The Big Bang Theory’: Could season 10 be end of the line?

Big Bang Theory -It was over a year ago that “The Big Bang Theory” was ordered through the end of season 10; since that point, no progress has been made one way or another in formulating the end of the series.

However, it is looking right now as though the show’s writers and producers are at least considering the idea of having this be the final season of the show. This is what executive producer Steve Molaro had to say to The Hollywood Reporter on the subject:

“I can’t speak to the future or on behalf of the cast or where we’ll be then but it’s certainly possible that it could go past that … The reality is that maybe season 10 is the ending point. The real answer is I don’t know and all I can do right now is go episode to episode and try to make each one the best that we can. There’s still so many episodes to go. Even if hypothetically season 10 was the end, I wouldn’t be focusing on that yet. That seems like something that would be dealt with way down the line.”

We can see this going multiple directions. While the ratings for the series remain pretty solid (to the point that it is the #1 comedy on TV by a long stretch), it is still very expensive to make versus the standard sitcom thanks to hefty cast contracts, and the ratings are down versus where they were the past two seasons.

We feel like one way or another, the best thing to do with this show is announce its final season in advance, and then give everyone a chance to give it a proper send-off … regardless of it is next season or one following that.
