‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 spoilers: Premiere director hints at things to come

LogoGame of Thrones” does typically get off to a little bit of a slower start, and it is easy to understand why when you consider many of the components. You have the challenge of trying together everything that happened in the previous season, reminding viewers of what happened, and then sending them on a new, potentially exciting road.

With this in mind, sometimes directing the premiere could feel a little akin to some to drawing the short straw. Luckily, it’s pretty clear that Jeremy Podeswa doesn’t feel that way for many reasons … beginning with the notion of the fact that season 6 is no ordinary season. Speaking at a Fox Studios Australia event (via Winter Is Coming), he makes it clear that there are a wide array of different events that you can expect to see over the course of the episodes that are coming up:

“Doing the first episode of a new season is always a bit tricky because they tend to lay down a lot of tracks for the season and check on where the characters are now. They’re not usually the most dynamic episodes. Happily for me this year the producers tried to work against that. The season gets off to an amazing start, stuff of consequence happens and the first two episodes are really strong.”

Given that there are only potentially a few more seasons to go until we make it to the end of the series, it feels like almost with each passing episode is going to come more and more anticipation for what is coming up. They have to find a way to start to pay off much of what they have set up, and now is the time to start that.
