Another big milestone has now been checked off the list for the “Outlander” cast in their season 2 production: Filming is complete for 2015!
This glorious news was shared Friday in a Twitter post from none other than star Sam Heughan, along with a little emoji tease as to how fantastic the final show of the year will be. Given how many different important events of Dragonfly in Amber could make it into the show’s second season, it is hard to even guess for certain what particular moment Heughan is even speaking about here.
Filming for the second season will more than likely resume early in the new year, and everyone will work tirelessly to ensure that production is complete in time for them to have another rest before season 3 picks up. Sure, there is no official renewal for the series just yet, but given the buzz surrounding it and all of the recent Golden Globe nominations, it feels like a mere formality. This show is giving Starz everything that it could want and then some: Solid ratings, media attention, and awards accolades the likes of which it has not seen particularly often before.
Hopefully, the new year will also come along with a premiere date. For now, the most we can say with confidence is the the 13-episode season will begin airing at some point in the spring. We’ll have updates as soon as they are available, really throughout the rest of the holiday season.
