NBC’s ‘The Voice’ finale review: Was Jordan Smith, Emily Ann Roberts, Jeffery Austin season 9 winner?
Pro tip: If you want to know who is the winner of “The Voice” and literally nothing else, then just tune in to the show at around 10:55 p.m. Eastern time of the finale. Other than a bunch of performances and filler segments, you really don’t miss much. Also, most of the show is a victory lap and it has no impact whatsoever on voting. all of that happened before the show even began.
There wasn’t really that much drama even going into the show, with most analysts out there suggesting that Jordan Smith had this so far in the bag that the end result wouldn’t be close. After the finale we’d say that we were about 90% confident that he would be the winner. He was charting high on iTunes, had fans all over the country, and Adam Levine has shown to be a winning coach before.
As a matter of fact, the only reason why we didn’t give him 100% odds to win is because of Blake Shelton’s own fan army / country mafia / whatever you want to call it. Remember when we all thought that Matt McAndrew was going to win? Well, Craig Wayne Boyd happened instead. Emily Ann Roberts had at least a small chance at taking home the trophy, given that she did at least chart high on iTunes.
Well, the 90% won out: Jordan is your winner. We’d say that for the most part, he is the rightful champ and someone show gave many great performances. Entertainment-wise, his win does make the season somewhat dull because it was never in doubt, and the show promoted the heck out of him like nobody’s business. Emily Ann finished in second place.
