‘Outlander’ season 2: Richard Rankin reacts to Roger casting
There’s obviously a lot for fans to be excited about with Roger’s arrival, as well: This news is certainly a precursor to an upcoming Brianna casting, as both are going to be incredibly important to the future of the series like they are the Diana Gabaldon book series. We imagine that there will be a few more deviations here and there in season 2 to the books (this tends to happen more over time), but we’re sure there will be plenty of faithful moments.
As for Rankin’s work, we rather enjoyed “The Crimson Field,” and as a gamer we of course love that his Twitter avatar is “Fallout”-based.
Filming for season 2 is currently still underway, and the show will premiere on Starz in the spring. While the network has released a small teaser already, we know many are still probably waiting for a longer trailer. Maybe that will come over the months ahead; if nothing else, it’d be nice to see one accompany the premiere of another series in “Black Sails” this January.
In addition to Rankin’s own reaction to the news being released below, we’ve also embedded messages from stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan.
As soon as we’ve got some more news on what is coming up on the show, we’ll have it for you here!

Haha, I made that avatar! A while ago he posted about standing by and it made his fans think he had an announcement. Some of us recognized it as a gaming reference, so I made that as a joke and he liked it. Glad to see he actually DID end up having an announcement!
