NBC’s ‘The Voice’ season 10: What we know about premiere date, blind auditions, coaches, and more
Tonight, “The Voice” is ending its ninth show on NBC, but that is not going to stop us from starting to look ahead a little bit at the remainder of the series. There’s one more season cemented on the schedule, and there could be many more coming beyond that.
Let’s start with a reminder of what has been confirmed for season 10: Christina Aguilera is returning to the coaching panel, replacing Gwen Stefani following her second stint on the show. The show will have a leap-day premiere on February 29, and be paired once again with “Blindspot.”
So when were the blind auditions for the show taped? There’s no definite answer on that. It’s possible that they were already taped, but if that was the case there wouldn’t be any clear references to what happened this season. We can tell you that the Battle Rounds have not filmed yet, and per a ticketing site, they will take place in front of an audience starting on January 28. Therefore, there is a lot of work still to be done on the show.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like the series is making many changes to the format. The Battle Rounds are still mostly awful given how stuffed full of filler they are, and how they often make it harder for duo acts to succeed. We wish there was an innovation there, or maybe just the elimination of this round / the knockouts. Start out with a smaller number of team members, and then maybe begin the live playoffs with twelve singers rather than 16 or 20. Narrow it down to eight after the first show, and give us more time to get to know everyone individually.
