‘The Leftovers’ season 3: Justin Theroux reacts to renewal with humor, ‘squad goals’

Just in case you ever wondered whether or not Justin Theroux was hip to some of what the young people are saying these days, we have some proof that he is right now courtesy of Instagram!

In the post on Instagram, the star of “The Leftovers” make an ever-familiar #SquadGoals reference when talking about the show being renewed by HBO for a third season … bu we really don’t want to spend too much time discussing that. We like the Guilty Remnant inclusion so much more.

What we are mostly overjoyed about right nos is that this show is getting one last chance to claim a little bit of the spotlight for itself, given that season 2 was a revelation. While both the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards unfortunately snubbed the series, the Critics Choice Awards on Monday did hand down a flurry of nominations to the series, whether it be for Theroux, Carrie Coon, or his co-stars Ann Dowd, Christopher Eccleston, or Regina King. It was really a glorious day all around for the show.

There is unfortunately not that much of a timeline out there right now for the show’s return, but at the same time, we’re fine with HBO taking however long they need to in order to ensure that this is all figured out and the story is developed properly. Maybe we’ll see it back in the fall, but we’d be okay with an early 2017 launch if that gives everyone some more time.
