‘Homeland’ season 5, episode 12 (finale) spoilers: Can Carrie stop the attack in time?
Last season, “Homeland” came to an end on a quieter note, as Carrie Mathison returned to the United States and was forced to sift through possible betrayals and her status as an agent. While we actually rather enjoyed this as a study of character and trust, we’re well aware of the fact that it was by and large heavily criticized by most fans.
With that in mind, we feel like the season finale on Showtime next week should be music to the ears of many fans who are out there. It’s much more of an action piece, and there are so many balls still up in the air. For one, Quinn is not out of the woods yet, and it is up to Carrie now to try to stop a massive terrorist attack. Given Howard Gordon’s history on “24,” it shouldn’t come as a shock that we can make some comparisons with this story.
As for whether or not there will be a cliffhanger at the end of this to the sixth season, we would be a little bit surprised. The last time we really hard any sort of major cliffhanger was at the end of the second season. Season 3 marked the end of the Nicholas Brody saga, and the show reinvented itself in many ways going into both the fourth and fifth season. Given that the show seems to be taking things for the most part one year at a time, it is very well possible that they could do the same thing here.
