‘Power’ season 3 spoilers: Anika Noni Rose checks in

Given that we are still many months away from the season 3 premiere of “Power,” this is not a show that we are probably getting much in the way of news on over the next several weeks. With that in mind, we’ll take everything that we can get at the moment!

Today, the news comes from the world of casting. According to a report from Deadline, Tony winner Anika Noni Rose is going to be playing a part over multiple episodes of the Starz series as LaVerne Thomas, a “streetwise” cop who is from the same neighborhood as Ghost and Tommy. As to whether or not she has any personal history with the two parties, that is still to be seen.

Going into season 3, we certainly imagine that Ghost and Tommy could be in a precarious position given the events of season 2, where Ghost in particular saw just how difficult it can be to start to push away from your problems when you are so far in. For the most part information is still sparse on the overall story of the season, but the expectations are definitely high given not just the quality of the show to date, but also the ratings. The series so far has been a runaway success for the network, and they improved dramatically between season 1 and season 2.

We’ll have some other news when it comes to “Power” as it starts to become available; for now, we anticipate the third season starting up at some point in the summer.
