‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 7 spoilers: Will the truth set Deeks free?

Deeks -Let’s start this “NCIS: Los Angeles” article with a mea culpa: We were wrong about how the story of Deeks getting out of prison. We thought that the show was going to take a page from the paint-by-numbers kit of crime procedurals, and have it turn out that he was really innocent of killing his former partner. It wouldn’t matter specifically how he was innocent so much as the mere fact that he was.

However, we learned soon after that Deeks actually did end up calling the guy. The twist here is that he had a noble intention in doing so (protecting Tiffany), but that doesn’t change the fact that this is a part of his past. Also, he’s not the only person who knows about it; Hetty does. Given that he and Kensi are in a relationship, this is problematic.

So is he going to tell her the truth about this? Speaking in a new interview with TV Guide, Eric Christian Olsen had the following to say:

“The first thing he wants to do is tell Kensi … His relationship to Kensi is too important. So at some point, it’s going to be overwhelming. He’s going to have to tell her. … He doesn’t have to carry this [secret] anymore. Obviously he’s been carrying it for god knows how long. And the fact that Hetty knows means that he’s not alone in this, and somehow that absolves him of those crimes.”

We would hope that this is something that would come out in one way or another by the end of the first half of this season, but given that there is still so much more time left in season 7, there is no guarantee of that happening.
