‘Shark Tank’ video: GeekMyTree looks to impress with elaborate lights
This is the most wonderful time of the year for many out there, and for “Shark Tank” this tends to mean an array of holiday-related products. There are a few gracing the tank on Friday night’s new episode, but one of the most ambitious is a company in GeekMyTree that is claiming that they can bring the excitement of an outdoor light show on your Christmas tree.
On paper, there is zero doubt in our mind that this is cool. The same goes for watching the presentation below to the sharks. They are remarkable at what they set out to do, and that is use glowballs to create a bright, engaging tree experience. There are Christmas lights out there, but none are anything like this.
The advantages to this are easy to identify. The product is relatively easy to install per the material we’ve seen, and there are further advancements that could integrate music and even more patterns over the coming weeks. You do have to appreciate the ambition in which they are approaching this with! They are also developing something similar for windows, but even without that there are so many families in America who have Christmas trees every year. The market is huge.
As for the downside, the big one we see is price. The starter package of glowballs starts at just under $400, so this is really a specialty product for people who really want to show off with their tree. It’s not everyone at that price point when you can get basic Christmas lights so much cheaper. Also, it’s a seasonal product, so you have to strike while the iron is hot. That leads to the Sharks approaching matters with a little bit more risk.
We’ll give you some further insight on this product and if a deal is mind come Friday night. For now, head over here to read more about Friday’s episode, and sign up here to get some other TV news on everything we cover, sent right over to you via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ABC.)
