‘The Originals’ season 3, episode 9 spoilers: Show boss teases likely death

The third season of “The Originals” will be signing off for 2015 on Thursday night, and based on everything we’re hearing, the return of Finn and Elijah showing off a new side are only going to be the beginning of some of the events that will soon unfold. A prophecy has been told, and the likes of Lucien, Aurora, and Tristan could inflict carnage on our characters sooner rather than later.

So is there someone who should be in a particular amount of danger? For now, executive producer Michael Narducci isn’t getting specific, telling TV Guide that in one way or another, every person left on the show should be feeling a little bit of pain:

“Given what we have been talking about in the writer’s room just in the past few days, no one is safe. Last season, our heroes were victorious but they were more divided than ever before. The story we’re telling this season is the story of them coming together to face a threat they just cannot defeat. They have to come together if they are going to defeat that threat, but what if there is no way just to defeat it? Along the way, I think some people we love might not make it through to the end.”

Of course, whether or not a character’s “death” actually sticks is an entirely different story. This universe is notorious for resurrections, and last night we published a lengthy CarterMatt Extended piece describing further the utter reluctance of showrunners to actually kill off characters, opting instead to tease fans with things that do not actually transpire.
