‘The Amazing Race 27’ finale preview: A firefight to the finish
The last leg of “The Amazing Race” is coming on CBS Friday, and there is probably more drama here than we’ve seen on any one to date. You’ve got in many ways a true David vs. Goliath sort of story. On one corner, you have two people in Justin & Diana who has pretty much dominated the Race, and even when they had a terrible leg this past episode in Hong Kong, they still managed to stick around. Then, you’ve got two other people in Kelsey & Joey and Logan & Chris who have one combined win between them.
So how can we say that the reporters are in our mind the favorite to win? It all comes down to one word: Edit. The Green Team over the past few weeks have been portrayed as being cocky and quick to stir things up. They haven’t been made out to be the sort of team that casual fans want to root for … even though we still do for the most part (at least when Justin’s not dealing with cab drivers in other countries). There’s just an innate part of us that wants to root for the person who has probably visualized the final moment the most.
The reason Kelsey & Joey have a great shot at this is because time and time again, we have heard about how they have finished close-but-no-cigar on so many different legs this season. We have to think that there is some sort of a reason for them being edited in such a way, and it probably ties back into a potential win in the finale being redemption. It wouldn’t be the first time that a team wins the race but not any other leg.
As for Logan & Chris, the paparazzi have a tough road ahead for them. Their edit has been worse than Justin & Diana’s, and while we suppose that it’s possible they come out of this #1, they aren’t probably as fast as either of the other teams and are quick to fight.
