‘America’s Next Top Model’: Tyra Banks would consider hosting again if show revived

Top Model -

While it seems as though the series finale of “America’s Next Top Model” aired last week on The CW, there’s one thing we’ve learned by all of the recent revivals of “The X-Files,” “Prison Break,” “Gilmore Girls,” and other shows: You never say never.

There has been reportedly interest from some cable networks in bringing on the show, mostly because its ability to repeat well, a trait that is not that common with reality television as a whole. Tyra Banks has herself commented on this now to Variety, and made it clear that she would even consider returning to host provided it was the right place and the right time:

“I’m not exactly sure what’s happening on the business side, but based on that the public seems so crazed about it, we’re looking at possibly doing something somewhere else. I don’t exactly know, but I know they’re looking into it, based on that response. I would definitely produce. I just have to talk to the new partners about being on camera. One thing that I have learned is that alignment is key and you have to be aligned with your partners. When you’re not, things can go very awry. So if not, then maybe I would have somebody else do it.”

Our feeling here ultimately is that like with many other things, it is best to let the show breathe for a while. Don’t hurry back with another version everywhere, and maybe take a year or two so that longtime viewers realize what they missed from the show. From there, maybe they will want to return and check out a potential new version.
