TV Quick Hits: Katey Sagal on ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’; ‘Star Wars’ cast on ‘Conan’; ‘Iron Fist’ showrunner
“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” gets a showrunner – For all of those wondering who was going to be getting the coveted (and more than likely very fun) role of Jake’s mother on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 3, we now come bearing an answer: Katey Sagal!
According to TVLine, the “Sons of Anarchy” / “Married … with Children” alum will appear in a 2016 episode as Karen, who turns up when Bradley Whitford also returns as Jake’s father. Given that Andy Samberg’s character was abandoned by his father at an early age, this is probably going to be quite the family reunion.

“Star Wars” cast visits “Conan” – Few late-night shows do the cast interview quite like Conan O’Brien’s TBS program, which is why we are pleased to announce via the network that J.J. Abrams alongside many of the upcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” cast (Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie) will be appearing on the Thursday, December 17 edition of the show. Given that this is right before the movie hits theaters, it is what we would consider to be prime real estate.
“Iron Fist” has a showrunner – Finally, some news has surfaced on the fourth of Netflix’s superhero adaptations! Scott Buck, who was an executive producer on “Dexter” and wrote on “Six Feet Under,” will oversee the series. Here is what Jeph Loeb of Marvel had to say in a statement:
“Scott came in with a take on Iron Fist that quite simply knocked us off our feet … We always look for the most creative minds in the field to help us bring our heroes to life, and with Scott we’ve found someone that can deliver yet another great series in the ongoing story of The Defenders.”
Here is our only concern about Buck: He wrote the “Dexter” series finale, arguably our least-favorite finale for anything ever. It wasn’t all his fault, but still.
