‘The Leftovers’ season 3: Who would Damon Lindelof like to see more of?

Are we getting a little ahead of ourselves in the article title by acting as though “The Leftovers” is getting a third season? Maybe, but we do feel fairly confident that it is something that will be happening in due time. HBO knows the love that the show has from critics / viewers, and while we have yet to construct our full season report card for the show yet (that’s coming tomorrow), here’s a quick teaser for it: It’s going to be a really good grade.

So with that, let’s discuss for a minute who Damon Lindelof would like to see more of in a third season. In doing his exit press rounds on Sunday, he passed along the following comment to TVLine:

“The one thing that I would say to you is that Scott Glenn is a starting pitcher that we have used as a relieving pitcher. I would really like to see some more of Kevin Senior. And not just in the present, but in the past.”

Through season 2, the most effective use of Kevin’s father was in the hotel sequence in “International Assassin,” where he was the person who truly guided Kevin down the path towards eliminating Patti Levin from his mind once and for all. This is a character who has struggled with illness in his own right, and the parallels between him and the younger Kevin are more apparent than they once were. Bringing him in now would help to replace the loss of Ann Dowd, who we cannot imagine returning at this point since it would undo almost everything that we saw in the key afterlife-themed episode.
