‘The Amazing Race 27’ episode 11 video: Hitting the high seas … sort of

As we get to the end of “The Amazing Race” season 27, clearly CBS saved back some of their production budget to do some sort of odd pirate version of Cirque du Soleil.

The video below features several teams taking part in what is an intense Roadblock, one where they have to apparently do a series of stunts and trials while in the middle of what appears to be a pirate show complete with a mock version of the high seas and fancy costumes. It’s clearly one of the weirdest challenges we’ve seen in some time, but also kind of cool since it is part danger challenge, part swimming challenge, and also part needle-in-a-haystack challenge.

What’s almost as odd as the task itself are the people who are there, and who is not: Logan, Krista, and Kelsey are all performing the task, and Justin & Diana are nowhere to be seen. Does this mean that they are out in front? It’s either that or they are pretty far behind. This doesn’t look like the sort of challenge that they could start in the middle of it, either; they’d have to wait for everything to reset to take part.

CBS has been promoting in pretty epic fashion that we are going to see some sort of shocking event in this episode, and we’ve certainly see the Green Team get emotional as a result. With that said, it’s almost too obvious of a red herring. Our guess is that either there is a non-elimination tonight, or somehow Justin & Diana are able to come back and pass another team. Who knows? Maybe they actually get first place again and they enter the “Amazing Race” history books.
