Could Chandler Riggs of ‘The Walking Dead,’ Rami Malek of ‘Mr. Robot’ become young Han Solo?

Carl -

At the moment, Disney is clearly doing their due diligence when it comes to finding the right person to play a young Han Solo for an upcoming spin-off movie for “Star Wars.” If the latest report from The Hollywood Reporter is to be believed, they have looked at literally of thousands of people in hopes of getting the right man for the job.

While there are countless film stars who have auditioned for this role, the report names a number of TV actors you may be familiar for, whether it be “Mr. Robot” star Rami Malek, Chandler Riggs of “The Walking Dead,” Colton Haynes of “Arrow” and “Teen Wolf,” Max Thieriot of “Bates Motel,” and “Galavant” leading man Joshua Sasse. Only one man will be eventually chosen for the part; while the studio went with relative unknowns (at least in America) in Daisy Ridley and John Boyega for the lead roles in “The Force Awakens,” we don’t imagine that they are necessarily beholden to do the same thing here. Since they have to get the casting right for the project to work, they will probably take their time to find the right name.

What’s probably the most remarkable about all of these auditions are the range that they encapsulate. For example, you have someone here in Riggs who is just a teenager, whereas Malek is 34 years old. We don’t even know how many TV actors would work for the part given production schedules, but Adam Driver seemed to figure it out with “Star Wars” and “Girls.”
