‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7, episode 8 video: Caroline set to deliver big news to Stefan

The seventh season of “The Vampire Diaries” has contained quite a few surprises to date, but we don’t quite think any comes even close to measuring up to the stunning baby news from Caroline earlier this fall. While we wonder if the whole Gemini Coven twist would have happened had Candice King not been pregnant in real life, it does create some bizarre, interesting new dynamics for these characters. It’s a part of what we’d consider a much-improved season for a show that was starting to get stagnant.

As the sneak peek below shows you, these characters are still doing their part to clue in Elena, whenever Bonnie dies and she wakes up, about what is going on in their world. Caroline writes down her thoughts about being pregnant with Jo and Alaric’s babies, and how she is struggling to figure out what this means for her.

Also, Caroline receives a phone call where she makes it very clear that she hasn’t figured out a way to tell Stefan just yet. This will be the next course of action for her, and it comes at a time when things are already a little bit strange between the two of them thanks to Valerie surfacing and Stefan learning what he did about her previous pregnancy. In one way or another, children are finding a way to be a recurring theme of the story this season.
