‘Homeland’ season 5, episode 9 preview: Carrie pushes Saul on Allison

On Sunday night’s new episode of “Homeland,” be prepared to see Carrie do almost everything in her power to push Saul on one particular subject: The idea of Allison as a potential traitor. As for whether or not he will listen, that is an entirely different story.

The sneak peek below puts Claire Danes’ character front and center as she repeatedly tries to convince her one-time boss that looking at Allison as working against them is the right move, citing all of the evidence that she has (smartly) accumulated. Unfortunately for her, Saul doesn’t seem to be that interested in listening … at least on a human level. He’s a smart guy, smart enough to know that there may be quite a bit of truth in what she is saying. The only resistance here may just be due to the fact that he doesn’t want to personally believe that someone he has such a history with could do something harmful to him.

Trying to piece this together will be one of many important themes in this episode. Some other threads here include trying (again) to figure out Quinn’s role, and then plotting what will be the moves to encapsulate the final episodes of the season. With a few bumps in the road aside, season 5 has continued the strong comeback from season 4. The one way that we’ll say that it tops it easily is if it figures out how to deliver on a better ending. (We actually enjoyed last year’s finale, but we know we are in the minority there.)
