‘The Amazing Race 27’ episode 10 review: Wedding wars in India

Amazing Race -

One of the classic rules of “The Amazing Race” is that you should never try to U-Turn a team when you think that there is at least a remote possibility that they could still be around. Even if there is no more U-Turn, it’s never a great idea to have someone around with an adversarial relationship towards you. They could not want to give you hints, direct you in the wrong way, or do a variety of other legal-but-unkind things to you.

Ultimately, that’s why we are unsure that Justin & Diana made the right move in this episode. Sure, we think that Logan & Chris after doing the U-Turn have a 1% chance of winning at this point, but they could do something now that hurts them against Joey & Kelsey or Tiffany & Krista.

Now, let’s give the Paparazzi a little bit of credit. They’re not the most likable team this season, but they did battle on through two separate tasks even while Chris was sick. That’s no easy task, especially given the setting: India, especially at night. This place is hot, crowded, and at times can be scary. We saw some of that tonight for the Cheerleaders, given the balloon-popping they endured after an early task thanks to one particularly-jerky local.

In terms of location, we cannot really give the episode a whole lot of praise given that we really didn’t see much of actual India at all. Instead, the entire installment was really more about preparing a Hindu wedding. Was it fun? For the most part, but it all felt like it could have been done in a few hours and was, other than getting all of the extras together to play the bride and groom, fairly cost-effective.

The team eliminated at the end, following another first-place finish from the Green Team, was Denise & James Earl. We really liked them! The good news is that they are the sort of team we could see being asked back since there are not too many memorable parent / child teams. The bad news was just that this was fairly expected at one point, simply because there were faster and stronger teams left. Episode Grade: B-.
