Dove Cameron missed 2015 Macy’s Parade due to illness

For those of you who were wondering what happened to Dove Cameron during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC Thursday morning, we now have an answer for you: She is suffering from a last-minute illness that forced her to cancel at the last minute. This is why she was featured on many of the promotional materials for the parade, but not in the actual event itself.

If you look below, you can see a series of tweets from the “Live & Maddie” / “Descendants” star apologized for missing the parade, and promised to make it up to Macy’s and the fans very soon. Her “Descendants” co-star Sofia Carson did appear and perform during the parade, and she marks the second big-name star to cancel an appearance over the past week. Justin Bieber did not even make the trip out to New York earlier this season, citing personal reasons.

We do feel for anyone who ends up missing the parade after being booked to be there, mostly because this feels like the sort of experience you would really want to have on at least one occasion in your life. It’s a chance to be in front of millions of people, and see something in-person that you have probably watched for most of your life on TV. It’s one of those traditions that you just turn on almost instinctively year after year, since it kicks off the Thanksgiving Day festivities and is a nice precursor to turkey and all of the other great stuff later.
