Ratings: ‘Chicago Med,’ ‘Chicago Fire,’ ‘Scream Queens’ fall as Thanksgiving nears (11/24/2015)
With Thanksgiving getting ever closer, this really means one thing (other thank of course turkey and people waiting an incredibly long time for a cheap television): Ratings for television shows start to go down the toilet. For this night, we consider a show just keeping the same ratings as the week before to be a win.
The winners – For now, we give “Dancing with the Stars” (2.4) the most credit for its two-hour finale, which was an improvement over its finale in the spring. Clearly, we take this as even further proof that this is a show that, one way or another, is clearly not going anywhere in the near future. Elsewhere, we’ll go ahead and give some love to “Chicago Fire” (1.8), which at least held pretty firm and showed that it doesn’t need to air after “The Voice” to pull in what is a number almost as good as “Blindspot” on Monday night.
The losers – We don’t mean to say “loser” too harshly when it comes to “Chicago Med.” Sure, it dropped more than 15% to a 1.8 rating on Tuesday, but given the circumstances and the fact that most shows experience drops after the premiere, that’s really not too bad. We’re still feeling good about the show’s future.
Many shows were in repeats, but “The Voice” (2.1) and “Scream Queens” (0.8) were the new episodes pummeled most by the timing. We feel for them, but at the same time, can they really be that surprised?
