‘Galavant’ season 2 video: Everybody shakes it off in new promo

The second season of “Galavant” is returning to ABC for five weeks starting on January 3, and based on the new promo below, we’re in for quite a zany good time.

Rather than hyping up any original music or specific character moments, though, this video decides more to stage an elaborate series of dance highlights set to the music of Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off.” Is it a strange choice? Not really. In this farcical sort of world these characters problem somehow think that Swift exists for one; not only that, but it’s a good way to appeal to viewers who may be either fans of Taylor’s or have never seen the first season. We know those people will watch just because the show is brilliant.

Based on the season 1 cliffhanger, we’re in for some great storytelling this time as Galavant and King Richard are now roughly on the same side, and the quest to rescue Isabella is afoot. Also, we imagine some hilarious hijinks and more original music, mostly because the show wouldn’t be the same without it.

Just as we did with season 1, we’re going to be back to share some more content throughout the season! Let’s just hope that everyone who watched the first time feels empowered by the renewal, and tells all of their friends to watch now without fear that this is going to be a quick cancellation burn-out. The show may only be around a little more than a month a year, but who says that it cannot make this said month the greatest one possible?
