‘Arrow’ season 4 spoilers: Colton Haynes stages return as Roy Harper

Roy -

We figured that one of the shows within the CW – DC universe was going to announce something related to Colton Haynes by the spring, and we’re pleased to report now that the waiting is over: “Arrow” is bringing the former series regular back.

Haynes confirmed the news first in a post on Twitter, and based on the statement from executive producer Marc Guggenheim, he will be turning up during the twelfth episode of season 4 airing early next year:

“We are beyond thrilled that Colton will be returning to Arrow this season … It was always our intention to have him return following his departure last season, but it was a matter of finding the right storyline to pull it off. That opportunity presented itself in Episode 412, and we can’t wait for the fans to see this reunion.”

There is no word on whether this will be a one-off appearance or something more, but it is probably going to be a little awkward having Roy Harper back right now. Thea is getting into a new relationship, and in many ways she has taken his place as a member of Team Arrow. They both have their problems and their demons, but we’ve also seen many flashes of effectiveness from both of them.

For now, we’re excited just because he was an important part of the show for so long. Hopefully in his absence he has started to build more of a normal life. Being a hero in costume just isn’t for everyone, and ultimately we like the fact that he was able to get away from it. It shows some more dimension and layers to this world.
