‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 12 winter finale video: Jo, Alex fight over Meredith

Could Jo and Alex be over by the time the “Grey’s Anatomy” winter finale wraps up Thursday? It’s at least possible (albeit unlikely), mostly because the two parties keep circling back to the same problem that they’ve had more or less since the beginning of their relationship: Meredith. Alex has always been there for her more than anyone else, and at times, he seems to put her at the top of the priority list, well over being there for his girlfriend when she needs him.

The specific source of the argument in the sneak-peek clip below seems to be Meredith yelling at Jo in the middle of a conversation with Alex, and then him not really doing anything about it. While we don’t think he is in love with Meredith or vice-versa, they are almost like longtime friends who trust each other so implicitly, it is hard to think of how they can have a relationship alongside that.

Jo makes some good points in the sneak peek, and while Meredith has gone through a lot in between Derek’s death and all of the other tragedy in her family, it does not give her complete license to be mean to other people at times without consequence.

Eventually, Alex may need to realize that if he wants his relationship with Jo to change, his relationship with Meredith needs to change in some way. It doesn’t necessarily need to be completely scrapped, but he needs to figure out a way that Jo comes first, and he cares for Meredith when there is time for it.
