‘Doctor Who’ season 10 and beyond: Natalie Dormer chimes in potentially playing female Doctor

Doctor Who -We know that there are few hotter topics in the world of “Doctor Who” and beyond than whether or not there could be a female Doctor on the show in due time … even if there is no factual basis for it in reality. Peter Capaldi looks to be returning to the show next season, so for the time being, another person in this role is still a long ways away.

Still, the questions are coming, and one such contender in Natalie Dormer made it clear that she’d be interested in the show … but the same could be said for any part if it was the right material. This is what she had to say in a chat with the Radio Times on the subject:

“It has to be real human beings, contradictory, flawed, complex multidimensional characters. It can’t just be concept. You know, female James Bond – CONCEPT. It has to have quality in the writing of real human psychology.”

Our feeling on a female Doctor has been rooted for some time: It’d be cool to see it, but it’s not necessary to see it. For us, the primary goal will always be finding the right person for the part, and it does not matter what their race or gender is. They have to have a passion for the material and want to embrace it head-first. We don’t want someone being hired just for a quick headline and then leaving the show well before it is time, or someone joining just to make a statement.

Now, we shelve this topic, and we’re sure it will come up again in another few weeks when another notable actress is asked.
