Ratings: ‘Castle’ season 8, ‘Blindspot,’ ‘Supergirl’ all improve; ‘Scorpion’ season 2 hits low (11/16/2015)
Who expected so many shows to improve the way that they did on Monday night? We’re going to get into all of that in the latest edition of our ratings report here today, but we’re going to start with an asterisk on The CW viewing figures. They were preempted in some markets thanks to NFL football and therefore are extremely inflated. There’s really no point even discussing them for the time being.
The winners – The biggest surprise to us was seeing “Supergirl” (1.8 in the 18-49 demographic) start to turn things around after a pretty meteoric decline through the first three episodes. Maybe the last-minute schedule change actually helped it to get some more publicity; we just hope that nobody is completely confused next week when suddenly Lucy Lane is just showing up in National City versus already being there.
Also worth noting here is that “Castle” (1.1) improved with Stana Katic back in the episode, and we also had a nice bounce up for “Blindspot” after the episode was promoted with a tease about a big death. Good news all around here. The biggest test for these shows will be seeing what they do in their fall finales next week.
The losers – What happened to “Scorpion”? Despite what we think is a pretty engrossing story revolving around the character of Megan, the show hit a series low last night in a 1.6. You can’t blame the lead-in or really anything for this. This was the night’s biggest decline; “Dancing with the Stars” (1.9) and “The Voice” (3.1) were both down, but not by any margin large enough to start proclaiming it the end of the world for either show.
