ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8, episode 7 review: Castle, Beckett’s one-year anniversary
Monday night’s new episode of “Castle” was entitled “The Last Seduction,” and going into this episode we knew that there were a variety of questions … especially on the subject of whether or not the relationship between Rick and Kate was going to progress with their one-year wedding anniversary.
We’d describe that part of the story as “bittersweet.” While the two briefly pressed pause on their separation to have dinner together (in addition to doing a wide array of other things seemingly), that was all it was: A pause. There is enough here to have us hopeful for the future, but we also wish they would just get the inevitable over with at this point.
We will at least admit that we got more hope from these two in this episode than we expected to. We actually thought that they wouldn’t get more of a kiss in here. Still, her not being honest with him in the end? Distressing.
While it is easy to sit here and continue to bemoan the separation twist, it’s still important not to diminish what we thought was a fun episode at times elsewhere. The writers found a fun way to get Castle working with Ryan and Espositoon their case, and even to get Castle going “undercover” to visit a divorce attorney. Meanwhile, having Hayley accompany Beckett at the spa was a nice use of her character. Ryan and Espo were going through relationship issues, but through some therapy and working together, eventually they got over the jealousy and the drama that was started by the Sergeant’s exam a little ways back. They’re staying together as partners!
In the end we’d put the humor and romance of “The Last Seduction” up there with “Cool Boys” as our favorite of the post-premiere episodes of the show … even if Castle and Beckett being together in some ways made their separation all the more frustrating. Grade: B-.

Seems the hiatus means no reunion in ep 8 which is bad. But ep 7 was very well done. Not at all worth the breakup, and her saying “See You Around” at the end. What is wrong with the show runners? Please it’s season 8, respect the characters. All in all though a good episode and hope for them to return as the best couple in TV history. Sorry fans though all the talking is just talk, they will not be together this week. Use logic, can’t go after Lockset from the ship. And let’s face it as ham handed as it has been handled, until he is involved or it is over, there is no Caskett. Sad because Mr. and Mrs. Smith could have been amazing with Stana and Nathan. Just as sexy, and funnier.

B-, I wouldn’t give it a C. Only watched because my wife was curious. We were not disappointed. The worst Castle episode ever. It is not the separation twist anymore. Two things the story line and the writing are amateurish. Plots make no sense. Characters come from nowhere. The ratings are down because no body cares anymore. Just so much repetition. Every scene refers back to something else similar that happened on a previous episode.
The honey trapping, the fight between Eps e only difference was the cruelty of the booty call. Stana seems bored to tears. Can’t even pretend that she likes Castle. I watch for entertainment. There is enough pathos and tragedy in my daily paper. This a crime romance, not a novella or soap opera

I see that it was only a respite for just 1 episode of them together. I see now that Hawley wants us to still hang on another episode to see that they won’t get back together till episode 18 or so .Actually who knows and who cares. Still silly story line. ABC has make it clear no long hiatus they must be worried about veiwership. Trying to get to resolution faster wish the writers would do the same.

It is obvious that there will be no season nine and at this point even with some type of reunion, the relationship is so cold and damaged that there is no hope. If you run away once why not every couple of months

I agree ,the writers just destroyed the show and I am not sure if they know how to end it on any kind of a good note.
