‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 spoilers: Ian McShane gives (tiny tease) on mystery role

There are a few newcomers coming to “Game of Thrones” for the upcoming sixth season, but what makes following these stories so interesting this time around is that both the TV and book fans are mostly in the same boat. Nobody really knows definitively one way or another just what is going to be coming up, and there is a certain excitement and mystery in that.

What we will say now is that there is one thing that we are very excited for in particular about the upcoming episodes: The chance to see Ian McShane! The legendary actor is familiar to HBO viewers already, but nobody knows precisely who he will be playing. With that said, he did tell site Pop Goes the News recently the following super-short teaser:

“I’ll give you one hint … I am responsible for bringing somebody back that you think you’re never going to see again. I’ll leave it at that.”

The wording here is such that he could be talking about a variety of different things. We feel like it’s a little on-the-nose for this to be a discussion of Jon Snow, but what about someone like Rickon or Benjen Stark? These are two people who have not been a part of the show in ages, and it is actually the mention of the later that puts Jon in a place where his untimely demise is coming at any second in the first place.

Regardless of whatever McShane is talking about here, we are now about 400% more interested in his part than we were previously … and we were already interested.
