‘The X Factor’ UK results preview: Are Max Stone, Mason Noise, Reggie ‘n Bollie facing elimination?

Mason -

The situation entering Sunday night’s “X Factor” results show is in many ways different than any other one that we have seen over the past couple of weeks, mostly because there is not as clear of hierarchy of who performed better than others. We know how the show seems to think is a serious contender, and also who it does not, and that’s about it. Almost everyone was really good on Saturday.

The only reason that we have Max Stone as a contender to go home is because we’d say that his “Secret Garden” was one of the weaker performances, and three episodes in he still has not found that sort of breakout vocal performance he needs to really stick around in the competition long-term. The one thing going for him is that he’s never been in danger, and that means his overall fan support is still somewhat of a mystery.

However, it’s not a mystery at all for Mason Noise. We know that he was in the bottom two last week, and for those out there who are conspiracy nuts, you could look at him performing early in every single performance show so far as a sign that production is not that keen on keeping him. Typically they give the closing spot to an artist they think has some major potential (see Lauren Murray or Che Chesterman).

Finally, we’re a little worried about Reggie ‘n Bollie, mostly because they are not the sort of act that tends to do really well in this competition. Personally, we love them; they are one of the few acts here for the purpose of pure fun that could actually make it in the business.
