‘The X Factor’ UK spoilers: What Lauren Murray, Monica Michael, Reggie ‘n Bollie will perform for Movie Week

X Factor -Saturday night’s new episode of “The X Factor” is almost here, and we have one visceral reaction to the songs that are being chosen this time by some of the contestants: Zzzzz. Seriously. These are not good. At least two of them are in the CarterMatt Set It On Fire Book, which is our compilation of song choices that should never be performed on the show ever again.

We should note here that for a couple of these performers, they have even more work cut out for them because of last-minute changes. Out of sensitivity for the terrible events in France, both Lauren Murray and Monica Michael have had to switch things up at the last minute.

4th Impact, “Work It Out” – We have problems with Beyonce songs when people don’t have the skill of Beyonce. Luckily, they do both in terms of vocals and stage presence.

Che Chesterman, “When a Man Loves a Woman” – SET IT ON FIRE. We’re so over the Michael Bolton song, and as much as we adore Che’s voice, we just don’t know how anything can be done that’ll impress us.

Louisa Johnson, “Everybody’s Free” – Our favorite choice so far, mostly because it is the most original and is not typical Movie Week fodder.

Monica Michael, “What Is Love” – Due to the last-minute change, we don’t actually know much about this song.

Lauren Murray, “One Last Time” – See above.

Mason Noise, “Men in Black” – Seriously? If he makes this into something better than the original song, we’ll salute him.

Reggie ‘n Bollie, “Who Let the Dogs Out” – Hey, at least it suits them. It’s hokey and corny, but it’ll be fun.

Anton Stephans, “I Have Nothing” – SET IT ON FIRE. NO NO NO. Terrible decision by Simon Cowell to go with this overdone, frustrating song from “The Bodyguard.” We literally never heard this song before watching singing shows. Now, we know every word of it. There’s nothing new Anton can do, and we’ve become completely emotionless and vapid to it. Anton deserves so much more than what he is getting with songs.

Max Stone, “Secret Garden” – Deep breath. This is actually pretty nice. We’d put it up there with Louisa’s.
