‘Reign’ season 3, episode 6 preview: Moving past tough Toby Regbo episode
Well, we have made it to the end of what was a long journey for fans of “Reign.” Everyone knew that it was coming with Francis at some point, but “In a Clearing” proved to be the hour that marked the sad end of the character on the show. Toby Regbo did an outstanding job in the part, but even he knew from the beginning he signed on that his story would be ending eventually. This is not a work of fiction; there may be elements here and there catered to television, but they cannot change the entire narrative of Mary’s life. Losing Francis here was necessary.
“Fight or Flight” is the title for the next new episode, and the first one that followed the terrible events that we just witnessed. The synopsis below will offer you at least some news as to what to expect:
“Mary (Adelaide Kane) realizes she must help Catherine (Megan Follows) in her quest to become regent, even at the risk of hurting the alliance with Scotland. Claude (Rose Williams) is determined to help Leith (Jonathan Keltz) marry while Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) struggles with the prospect of losing Dudley (Charlie Carrick).”
In case you are wondering why Francis is not even referenced in here, the simple answer is that this was released long before it was confirmed that he would be dying during “In a Clearing.” His memory is of course going to live on for these characters for a long time, and hopefully they will draw strength from him rather than sadness.
