‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: Will the LGBT story be explored Sunday night?
While the suspicions are high that Mulan is going to find love at some point on “Once Upon a Time” season 5, we come with some bad news for those of you who were hoping to see the beginnings of it Sunday night: That may not be the case.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about the long-discussed LGBT romance, executive producer Edward Kitsis gave a time-frame on when it would appear; not only that, but he also described how there has not been any resistance from Disney or anyone else who may have used the characters involved in a different way:
“For us, we wanted to tell it no differently than we would with Robin and Regina or Snow and Charming. We just wanted to tell a love story. For us, it’s a love story like any other and it’s something we’re excited about. Everyone’s been supportive, and we’re going to tell it in the second half of the season.”
Ever since we started to realize that Merida was not involved in this particular love story, we have believed that the likely scenario is that Mulan and Red were going to be getting together. Given that we’re not going to see it for a little while longer, the reality now is that it could be someone else who has yet to be confirmed as coming back, or a completely new character altogether. We’re trying to not have too many preferences one way or another, and will judge the story mostly on how it works organically and the chemistry between the two.
