‘Arrow’ season 4 spoilers: First news on ‘The Flash’ crossover ‘Legends of Yesterday’

On Wednesday, December 2, “Arrow” is going to be on the air providing you with what is clearly their version of “The Avengers”: A two-part crossover event that really combines the show and “The Flash” and turns it into something special.

Last year, we feel like the two shows joined forces for a pretty fun story, but at the same time it was slightly not altogether consequential to what was happening with the long-term story on “Arrow.” That will change this time around. Take a look at “Legends of Yesterday” below, and if you are confused by any reason over what you are reading, our advice is to head over here for some details on “Legends of Today,” the first part of the crossover that is airing on the December 1 episode of “The Flash”:

“Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Barry Allen (guest star Grant Gustin) take Kendra Saunders (guest star Ciara Renée) and Carter Hall (guest star Falk Henstchel) to a remote location to keep them hidden from Vandal Savage (guest star Casper Crump) while they figure out how to defeat him. Malcolm (John Barrowman) arranges a meeting between Vandal, Green Arrow and The Flash that doesn’t go as planned. Meanwhile, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards), Thea (Willa Holland), Diggle (David Ramsey) and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) work with Team Flash to come up with a weapon powerful enough to destroy Vandal Savage.”

Here’s the bad news for Team Arrow and Team Flash: They’re not going to be able to do it. Given that these stories are a setup for “Legends of Tomorrow” and Vandal Savage is the big bad of that show, this is mostly here to just set the stage.

The one thing that it is somewhat interesting is that Rip Hunter, who is at the focal point of the spin-off show’s time travel, is really not mentioned on either this synopsis or the one for “The Flash.” Clearly, some things are being saved for the last minute here…
