ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: Full details on Nathan Fillion – Stana Katic story in ‘Mr. & Mrs. Castle’
“Mr & Mrs. Castle” is an episode of “Castle” that you have probably heard a few things about already over the past few weeks. It is the show’s winter finale, and the last bit of hope that is out there that Castle and Beckett will get back together before we reach the end of the year. There is no confirmation that the two will end the separation, but we have heard time and time again that there is something within this episode that fans will be happy about.
Are there any clues in the just-uncovered synopsis posted by SpoilerTV? While we would not call it a “clue” per se, this does at least make it clear that we are going to see a story that features Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic’s characters spending a lot of time together in a situation where they don’t have anyone else to rely on:
“Castle and Beckett investigate the murder of a cruise ship entertainer, only to find themselves trapped at sea with the killer.”
Sometimes, it does take a dangerous situation and plenty of teamwork to realize that you are better together than apart, which is precisely why we have never understood some of the logic in this particular storyline to begin with. Rather than pushing him away, wouldn’t it have been better to include Castle in what you are working on with Vikram? Sure, he may have conspiracy theories up the wazoo, but over the course of their partnership and relationship the guy has done so much more good than he has harm.
We’ll hopefully have more information on this episode next week, after the conclusion of “The Last Seduction.” If you head over here, you can see a preview for this particular installment right away! Seven years ago I started watching a mid season replacement show called Castle,I really knew only one person Susan Sullivan from many great shows and movies.I found it funny and dramatic,a great combo.Kate was a bit stuffy and by the book,he was very sure of himself and very sexy, yes even an old lady like me.
Over the years I have gotten to know the cast and followed their journey.I even forgave the fact that they were consistent with storylines.Rick stays with her even when she is standing on a bomb and three episodes later she is unsure of him.Really?Even though they are married he still has this thing for strippers,Bad Santa being an example that was maddening. These are just a few examples.
He was was always funny but knew when to turn on the serious and add real insight and the two parter with 3xK was him at his best. She has always been about justice, for better or worse she always was.We know this and it was part of the reason we watched through pain and pleasure. The whole cast were our friends for sixty minutes.
So that brings to season 8,the cast and chemistry has been shaken and stirred and in in unrecognizable,Kate is crazy about Rick, she knows that together they have been strong.
Rick has always been funny and serious when needed, yes a kid at heart but she was old at heart, they balanced out.But now no one with the exception of Martha is acting like what we know,I will not list things ,everyone knows.
Now people hate Kate and are mad at Rick the clown, they in different articles want her dead and him to start over.Really? How can this be the same show I ask.How can this show now polorize us so much,I want them back together but there are consequences to actions and they need to be addressed. The show has made it a no win for Kate, made him look like a court jester.Alexis is now Supergirl that can do and solve everything, the boys are doing and saying things that I have never seen before,
I just wish that there is a reason for all this angst and upheaval, that they plan to reunite our Caskett and they all work together again. And they stop the hate,it is not what I watch for.
Everyone has their own story of why they like the show.Like mine or not like it,we all make choices.
Happy Anniversary Mr and Mrs Castle.

Lindag,I agree with your statements,I think the writers decided to take a risk and it was royal fail. What they need to do is get the show back on track before it is too late.Although I think it is to late for some fans already, as I have talked with friends of mine if not fixed by hiatus they will stop following and watching. Not that seems to matter to the writers/actors or powers that be.

If these writers continue to ruin this perfectly good show and it goes off the air, I will personally watch for any of Hawleys shows and boycott them. If they get by with this they should be banned from writing anything else!

We are on the Titanic, iceburg straight ahead. Latest sneak peek confirms it. AH and his shipmate have no clue how to steer the boat. Fans are tired and frustrated and exhausted from crying out, not only for Caskett as they once were, but good stories, following canon. Sad state of affairs.

Vikki and Buddy ,I agree with both comments it is pretty sad state of affairs when writers state no divorce and the start leading us in that path .I hate to say this I wish it would hit the Iceberg even tho maybe it already has.

Given what I’ve seen in the latest sneak peek videos for The Last Seduction it seems that the divorce line is part of Kate going undercover at a spa as someone wanting a divorce.
SPOILER ALERT IF YOU NEVER WANT TO SEE THOSE SNEAKS.
There’s also someone in the steam room who recognizes Kate as being married to Castle. The possibility of that person gossiping to her friends and the word getting to the media that Kate is divorcing Castle would seem to be something that the current writers, including H&W, would play with. But then again they might not be THAT bright given most of this season so far.

I saw a photo from The Last Seduction. It showed Castle with the confetti falling all around him, the Happy Anniversary banner unfurling and the confetti detonator in his hand and the most glum look possible. It looked like Beckett had just told him that she wants a divorce. Maybe the upswing in Mr & Mrs Castle being together on a boat with no way to get off will force them to talk to each other and work things out and just maybe this is What’s supposed to make fans fall all over themselves with giddiness, joy and hope for a great remainder of the season.

Jim, this is the last real opportunity to save the series..As you know, the numbers this season are pathetic–worse than any season so far..Have the showrunners ‘come to Jesus’ regarding the story arc? Not according to their words..We’re still hoping.
Charles Neale
November 12, 2015 @ 2:14 pm
Dan, I don’t think they will ever come to Jesus on the story arc Hawley still thinks this has been great for the series. Of course he must be reading the good reviews or tweets which as I have been seeing are few and far between. He is still hoping the fans like the direction they went in the fall finale, I DOUBT IT.

In reality I think that Hawley couldn’t care less what happens to Castle. He’s already got another show to work on for next year.

Jim, yes I think I have to agree since I have heard that he has another show he is already working on for next year.

Agreed. Somehow, and I’ve said this before, the showrunners are insensitive to what the fans tell them. AWM had the same problem–and we see what happened to him when the numbers started dropping. The interesting thing about these showrunners are that they had the experience of watching what happened to AWM when he ran the show without consideration of viewership numbers. It is true that a show cannot solely be run based upon what the fans say, but if the audience drops, as it did after 623 (12 episodes in S6 were over 10M viewers, while S7 only had 1 episode over 10M), and the numbers in S8 of no episode drawing more than 6.85M viewers (next day data) is the absolute worse of the entire series. In addition, if you remember, Castle regularly won its 10p Eastern time slot in most previous years–this year they are on the absolute bottom. As to the end of this story arc, from what I read it will be at least well into March before we see the couple back together. What they (the showrunners) are doing is obviously not a rational direction imho, given the audience numbers and the reaction of the fans.
Charles Neale
November 13, 2015 @ 2:42 pm
Dan, I agree but as you say they particularly don’t care or agree with the fans.I have read the same not until March or so I think that is way to long and I think fans will start dropping faster after hiatus if we keep getting this fluff BS and false promises from the writers.
Jim_Satterfield
November 11, 2015 @ 7:21 pm
Just remember that the promises of something the fans will like come from H&W (Hawley and Winter), the geniuses who came up with the separation story arc and its massive plot holes. They think THAT was a great idea. They think that fans should have been happy with the shows so far. I think that shows how much they understand about the fans.
Charles Neale
November 11, 2015 @ 7:59 pm
Jim, isn’t that the truth, They should already know that fans aren’t happy as it is and they still want the fans to hang around . Ain’t happening with this fan and some other fans I know. We have switched from Castle fans to Blindspot fans instead. We just comment and read these reviews to see how fast a set of writers/showrunners can take a once good show and destroy it.

Their egos are far too massive to admit that they screwed up. Since they can’t admit that they won’t try to correct course.

Jim, LOL yes I can see that ,but also why had Stana or anyone else come out in any interviews and said anything about this season since she has producer by her name.I wish she would defend this train wreck .It shows me they could care less also guess money was to good.

November 13, 2015 @ 6:22 pm
The overwhelming majority of the time a producer credit for an actor is just a matter of more money outside of their salary for acting. It doesn’t mean that they actually take care of any of the duties of a producer. Of course Fillion saying that he views the show as a comedy is disturbing since the absolute best shows over the years have been the ones that were light on the comedic aspects.
Charles Neale
November 13, 2015 @ 6:53 pm
Oh ok ,andyes Fillions calling it a comedy bothers me since that is what it has become only it is his comedy hour .

The early success of Castle was not the WTWT separation of the characters. It was the fine dialogue and the great performances of Fillion and Katic presenting that WTWT situation that created the chemistry between the characters and the energy that drove the show. If the Mr. & Mrs. Castle episode re-kindles similar dialogues with similar performances by Stana and Nathan then there may be some new energy with revived chemistry. At that point there may be hope for the rest of the season. Of course one episode does not make a season. Considering all the damage done to the expectations of the audience the remainder of the 22 episodes better be loaded with great dialogue for Castle’s dynamic duo to perform. Goes without saying that they need to bring their A-game and their all-in attitude as well.

Jim45, I hope you are right , but the way the writers have been filling in with these stupid stories and show tunes etc. they better get their acts together before they don’t have a season to come back to.
