‘American Horror Story’ renewed for season 6

American Horror Story -

While “American Horror Story: Hotel” has yet to fully get into a consistent gear, FX is making it clear that they have no plans to cut bait on this franchise anytime soon … and nor should they. At this point, this is the network’s highest-rated show, and it is really not even close.

In a statement, FX CEO John Landgraf had the following to say about renewing the series for a sixth season, which will air at some point next year:

“With the sixth installment coming next year, American Horror Story has unquestionably joined the ranks of television’s landmark series … From Murder House to Hotel, AHS has pioneered a new television form as well becoming FX’s highest rated show — while also pushing every conceivable boundary of creative excellence and audacity.”

With this announcement, we envision that much of the next year will be spent with many people out there wondering just where the network could possibly want to set the show. What about outer space, the underworld, a creepy hospital, or a research station in a remote part of our planet? There are a lot of possibilities.

The one thing that we do hope is that someone over at FX realizes that at a certain point, less is more. We know that there is a great temptation to continue to push more and more characters and big-name cast members at us, but this show would be so much better if they would drop four or five people from the cast and focus more on some individual stories.
