MTV’s ‘Awkward’ season 5, episode 13 preview: Return date speculation for Ashley Rickards series
Tonight marks the end of “Awkward” season 5A, and with that in mind, we could be halfway home to what will be the series finale.
Unfortunately, you may be waiting for a little while to see just what transpires from here. There is no confirmed premiere date just yet for the second half of the season, and we would wager that it will premiere in the spring, presumably alongside “Faking It” once more. There are twelve more episodes to go, and we are jumping forward to a new time in Jenna Hamilton’s life, after she experiences some time in college. How will that experience change her? It’s interesting to see.
We would imagine that for Ashley Rickards, Beau Mirchoff, and the rest of the cast, it must feel like a somewhat-welcome change to no longer have to be playing high school students. They now get to be in a different stage of their lives, and dealing with a wide array of struggles that are a little bit more adult. We will have some more updates on all of this when we get closer to the show coming back on the air, but as we mentioned, it’ll be a while.
More than anything else, what we hope is that the second half of the season really takes advantage of a little less structure, since it no longer has to do the checklist of high-school institutions like a prom, a graduation, or other matters. For the sake of comedy, freedom can be a good thing.
What’s not a good thing? Having to wait so long after learning that the rest of the story for Jenna and Matty is far from smooth sailing. The final lines tonight sealed that.
