NBC’s ‘The Voice’ star Blake Shelton hosting Kids’ Choice Awards

Blake -There are a few roles that we never expected to see Blake Shelton secure at any point during his career. Host of the Kids’ Choice Awards is one of them. This is a guy known mostly from either “The Voice” or is music, which is often about drinking and having a good time. We’ve never seen his image as particularly kid-friendly.

The news about Blake teaming up with Nickelodeon was first made clear this morning, and speaking on the subject per People Magazine, Blake had the following to say:

“I’ve been on countless stages throughout my life, but none have promised the madness, excitement and endless slime as Nick’s Kids’ Choice Awards, which is undoubtedly the ultimate party for kids … There is only one team here, and it’s Team Kids’ Choice so bring it on Nickelodeon!”

Who knows? Maybe this move is a way to get Blake a wider audience beyond just country fans, or maybe he just wanted to try something different. It’s also certainly possible that this move by accident may appeal himself more to Gwen Stefani’s children. It was just confirmed last week that Blake and his co-star on the singing show are dating, even though it is very early still in their relationship.

The Kids’ Choice Awards will air on Nick in the spring, and we figure that we will have a lot more when it comes to news on it (including nominees) in 2016. For now, we’re just left to marvel at what Blake is going to do as host … other than of course eat a lot of the network’s trademark green slime.
