CarterMatt TV Podcast: ‘Star Trek,’ ‘Gotham,’ ‘Chicago PD,’ and more (episode 2)
We’re back today with our second edition of our CarterMatt TV Podcast, something that we (being co-founders Matt Carter and Jessa) have enjoyed adding to our roster of podcast. The objective of these is simple: Giving you a variety of different conversation topics based on some of the top headlines happening in TV at the moment.
In this new edition, we are touching on an array of headlines, and a few shows that are in interesting places in their run.
“Star Trek” – If you missed the headlines, the show is returning to CBS and eventually CBS All Access in 2017! It is easy to feel as though bringing the show back is the right move for the franchise, but is this really the right format for it?
“Gotham” – We feel like the show is one of the most-improved parts of the TV schedule, but is it perfect? Far from it. We talk about what is working and not working.
“Chicago PD” – Is this gritty drama venturing too far into implausible territory, or are we being too hard on it thanks to it being so grounded in reality?
“The Big Bang Theory” – What’s the future for Sheldon and Amy, and is the show handling their path the right way?
Show lengths – We close this podcast with a discussion about how long some shows are making their episodes, and if there is anything that can be done to turn this around and make it easier for networks to give us more of a great show, with fewer commercials, within the span of an hour.
