‘Elementary’ season 4, episode 2 preview: Will John Noble’s Morland Holmes cause Sherlock chaos?
Who is Morland Holmes really on “Elementary”? Part of the fun of the fourth season may just come out of the simple fact that he is not someone we find particularly predictable. You have been taught a specific narrative about him, but it is through Sherlock’s lens. How much of him is a reliable narrator? It’s a fair question that the show has worked hard to make you question.
Therefore, next week’s new episode is going to feature John Noble’s character managing to get Sherlock back on board the NYPD alongside his partner Watson, but at the same time, is he doing it out of fatherly love, or a desire for personal gain that is not entirely clear? The synopsis below presents at least a little more information in regards to some of Sherlock’s lack of trust, and then also what we are going to see that qualifies as the case-of-the-week in some form:
“When Morland offers to use his influence to have Sherlock and Joan reinstated as consultants to the NYPD, Sherlock’s mistrust of his father makes him question his motivation to help. Also, with no work offers coming in, Watson wrangles a gig with the FBI investigating a triple homicide in a top-secret research lab.”
We do not expect all of the answers about Morland coming in the next episode. Heck, we do not even expect all of the answers this calendar year. This may be a story that takes a little bit of time to prosper and develop, and so long as there are many interesting twists and turns with it, we’re more than fine.
