‘Downton Abbey’ season 6, episode 8 video: Laura Carmichael’s Edith ponders over a secret

Sunday night’s new episode of “Downton Abbey” is going to tell a longer story than usual. Over an hour and a half is being devoted to the penultimate installment of the series, which has the challenge of resolving everything in part until the Christmas Special. The show typically does not throw too many cliffhangers in there between the finale and the special, and we don’t that happening here.

What are at the center of the new promo below are mostly questions, with one of the biggest ones coming via Lady Edith. For example, is she going to be able to admit the truth about Marigold before getting married? Obviously, this is something that she should reveal. Her potential husband has the right to know, and we really do not think that he would judge her for it. If she doesn’t say something and he figures out by some other means, the consequences could be enormous.

Part of the problem that may complicate things for Edith is Mary, as the two have long had a tumultuous relationship that runs hot-and-cold. Things between the two of them could turn icy in a matter of seconds, though the video reveals that Michelle Dockery’s character also has a wide array of her own problems that she has to deal with.

In the end, we anticipate plenty of emotion over the course of this episode, and also maybe a little nostalgia here and there to days gone by.
