‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 17, episode 8 preview: ‘Melancholy Pursuit’ teases tough times for Sgt. Dodds

Law & Order: SVU logoAt this particular moment in time, we are still getting to know who Sgt. Dodds is as a character on “Law & Order: SVU.” What we’ve learned is that he is someone still desperate to prove himself as not just the son of a famous police officer, and also someone desperate to impress Benson and prove himself. Just in a brief scene with him working late, we saw what he is trying to do to earn her favor.

Sooner or later, we were going to see some of the downside to all of the work that he is putting in. When you are pouring so many hours into trying to be the best and brightest, at times that can take a toll. The same goes for a case, especially when you are new to the SVU and may not fully understand the complexity and the emotional wear and tear that some of these take.

The episode coming up is entitled “Melancholy Pursuit,” and if you haven’t seen much in the way of news pertaining to what to expect just yet, you can definitely see so below:

“The hunt for a missing teenage girl takes an emotional toll on Sgt. Dodds (Andy Karl), and DNA evidence becomes a crucial lead in finding the girl’s abductor. Starring Mariska Hargitay, Ice T and Peter Scanavino. Guest starring Tamara Tunie, Brian Avers, Jonathan Judge-Russo, Nick Cordero, Carolee Carmello and Ali Wentworth.”

It’s a little shorter than the average “SVU” synopsis, but sometimes you do take what you can get.
