‘Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance’ preview: A divide forms at the merge

Merge episodes on “Survivor” tend for the most part to be incredibly entertaining, and at this particular point in time, the one on Wednesday night’s “Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance” feels like magic. It is the earliest merge in “Survivor” history at 13 people, and to go along with that, you have returning players.

It is only appropriate to put Kass in the photo above, since we know she loves chaos and this will certainly be just that. What’s interesting is that almost identically to “Survivor: Cagayan,” the promo claims that there are going to be in many ways two separate groups that form not long after the merge, which means that there could be a little bit of jostling in the middle for votes. This is a situation that Kass exploited perfectly the first time around to get out Sarah, but can she again?

If we were one of the other players, we’d consider almost doing what happened to Dolly on “Survivor: Vanuatu” and just band together and get get out the person in the middle. As fun as we find Kass as a viewer, you want to play with people you can predict. There is nobody in this game with a habit for unpredictability quite like hers. If there is one element of stability you can get in this game, shouldn’t you take it?

As for some other possible threats to consider taking out at this point, we are looking mostly at someone like Joe (obvious challenge threat), or a strategic player like Stephen or Spencer who could burn you later. The fact that Spencer has managed to survive so many near-misses so far has to make people wary.
